Somehow I don't think this role is going to be too much of a stretch for poor old Lindsay. Check out I Know Who Killed Me in theaters on July 27 if 2 hours of skanky is your thing.

Remake Bulletin: Footloose
Paramount is developing a full-blown musical remake of 1984's Footloose, with High School Musical and Hairspray star Zac Efron picking up where Kevin Bacon's be-bopping, Walkman-toting Ren left off. HSM helmer Kenny Ortega is in talks to both choreograph and direct the redo.
The original Footloose, for those so young you sicken me, concerned a rebellious newcomer's arrival in a small town that has banned dancing.
Is it just me, or is everyone else sick of these Musical remakes!

More Indy 4 Movie News!
From Ain't It Cool News comes word that maybe, Indy 4's storyline will bring the series full circle. Which means the Ark of the Covenant, last seen disappearing among countless crates in a warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, will resurface. According to the AICN article, that warehouse might be in an interesting location:
The rumor is that the warehouse we see at the end of Raiders is in Groom Lake (aka Area 51) and the Russians are trying to find it in order to one-up the American military might.
There is also a rumor that Shia LaBeouf is set to take over the franchise and the conclusion of the upcoming movie will wrap it up nicely for Harrison Ford while setting the stage for his son (Shia) to carry on in his footsteps!
Once again these are just rumors! We have to wait and see if any of the come to fruition.

Star Trek Casting Rumors:
J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek XI has gone through many casting rumors over the past few months (Matt Damon as Captain Kirk has to be the most exciting), but here are the most recent rumors:
First, Film Ick brings news that Zachary Quinto -- so creepy as Sylar on "Heroes" last season -- is being considered for the role of young Spock. Quinto does bear a physical resemblance to Nimoy, and has gone on record more than once as saying he's interested in the part.
Second, IGN tells us that during a recent conversation, William Shatner told his fans that his old friend Leonard Nimoy will be making an appearance in Star Trek XI.
Thirdly, MTV News is reporting that Sam Rockwell (Matchstick Men) has joined the wish list to play the part of Captain Kirk and is talking to producers.
It seems rumors never end!

In Dead Animal Movie News:
"Friday Night Lights" director Peter Berg is expected to direct Gone Like the Wind, a Universal project about the late horse Barbaro.
Barbaro was the runaway winner of the 2006 Kentucky Derby, a decisive ride that had many pundits predicting a possible Triple Crown. Instead, Barbaro shattered his leg early in the Preakness. For eight months, Barbaro's team -- owners Gretchen and Roy Jackson and trainer Michael Matz -- plus veterinary surgeon Dean Richardson fought to keep the horse alive. It's expected that Berg's film will focus on the humans who loved Barbaro in his eight-month post-race fight for life.
YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure to bring your pillows.

Harry Potter Already Setting Box Office Records!
Four years after The Return of the King set the $8 million record for a midnight screening, cinemagoers have boosted the latest Harry Potter flick above the bar: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix rang up a stunning $12 million for its midnight screenings early Wednesday.
"Harry" continued strong as the sun went up, with box office soothsayers predicting a $44.3 million opening for Wednesday alone. If that number holds, the film will surpass the reigning Wednesday champ: Spider-man 2, with its $40.4 million.
As Predicted, this summer box-office records are being smashed almost every other weekend!

Umm...Where's Finding Nemo 2!
Pixar has announced a 2011 release date for Cars 2 (their least profitable picture to date) However, we are still waiting for a sequel to Finding Nemo, which was Pixar's most successful box-office film yet and many say the best (along with The Incredibles)
"As you may remember reading here last October, the Peter Jackson-produced, Neil Blomkamp-directed film adaptation of Microsoft's hit series of "Halo" games was left at the altar by Universal and Fox, thus effectively killing the project. Or perhaps not."
"As Cinematical reports, Microsoft used the E3 conference this week to grease the skids for the upcoming "Halo 3" with an assortment of "Halo"-related material, including a Blomkamp-directed teaser. Jackson has publicly stated his belief that Fox and Universal will get over their cold feet once they see how well the game sells, so the argument could be made that this teaser is not only a promotional tool for the game, but a way of re-enthusing the film's erstwhile studio backers."
"It's a thought. As you'll see after watching the teaser, however, Blomkamp clearly didn't have much to work with, and filled in the gaps with what looks like footage pulled from Ford training videos and Marine Corps commercials -- the whole thing has a rushed, low-budget feel. It's apparently only one of several such clips, however, so it stands to reason that Microsoft will continue to leak out more (and better) "Halo" trailers as the game's September 25 release date approaches -- and that all this just might get the "Halo" film back on the release schedule."

Here's A Look At Some Of The Remakes and Sequels You Can Look Forward To For 2008: (courtesy ofMatchflick.com)
Remakes:
1. Conan The Barbarian : Yes that's right, Conan The Barbarian will be remade for 2008. I guess the suits feel that consumers will once again find a burly swordsman entertaining as he makes his journey across continent of Hyboria. Several movie patrons are speculating that the "Conan" role will go to either Triple H or The Rock both which are from wrestling backgrounds. Nothing is solid on the casting yet.
2. The Day the Earth Stood Still : After one of the biggest disappointments in film history, hopefully they can make this film better then War Of The Worlds. This film is a remake of the 1951 sci-fi masterpiece involving an alien visitor and his robot coming to Earth. Scott Dickerson has been chosen to direct which is best known for Urban Legends Final Cut and The Exorcism of Emily Rose. The release date is set for May 9th, 2008 and the cast has yet to be determined.
3. The Evil Dead : I don't know if I'm thrilled about this one but it might turn out alright. I would rather see a part 4 then a remake of the first film. Again an evil book has the powers to conjure demons and in a small cabin in the middle of no where people decide to play with the book. The original script was written by Sam Raimi but no other cast or crew information is available at this time.
4. Hellraiser : Although this film is not being taken with open arms by horror fans I for one think its a good idea. Fans are upset that Doug Bradley which played the original pinhead is not in talks for this but I can't see a remake being made with the same actor playing the lead role. I liked the Hellraiser series and think that with the special effects of today's time that this will turn out to be even better then the original. As long as they don't cast Lil Bow Wow or Tyrese as Pinhead.
5. Red Sonja : You know I laughed when I saw this, I actually thought that my eyes was deceiving me. Do not get me wrong I actually liked the original one with Bridgette Nielson and Arnold but I just could think of a ton of movies that should be remade over this.
Sequels:
6. Cabin Fever 2 - Spring Fever : This movie is actually be filmed in north Carolina really close to me, the casting calls have been in the paper a lot lately. The flesh eating bacteria virus is back and this time its spreading by a popular brand of what else......."Spring" water. It starts doing its killing at a high school prom. Ti West is directing and back again from the original Cabin Fever is Rider Strong. A release date has not been set yet.
7. The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian : Lucy Pevensie and her siblings Edmund, Peter and Susan are back again. They go back to Narnia and learn that hundreds of years have passed since they once helped get rid of the evil white witch. This time an evil king has taken the throne and they seek Aslan's help to boot him off. The release date is set for May 16th, 2008.
8. Fahrenheit 9/11½ : Michael Moore is back again to poke fun at our President. He again will be exploring MORE events after the September 11th terrorist attacks. This is written, directed and starring Michael Moore and really I'm not looking forward to this....I think he clearly made his point with the first film. I also am not a fan of making a sequel to a documentary. A release date has not been set yet.
9. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince : You know I'm getting a little tired of Harry Potter. For one that little fucker has more money then I will probably ever see in my life and two I just don't like the series. Harry Potter begins his 6th year at the school and this time finds a book which gives him new information on Lord Voldemort's evil past.
10.Hellboy 2: The Golden Army : Ron Pearlman (which is a very underrated actor) is back again as Hellboy....this time to stop creatures from trying to rule the Earth. Guillermo del Toro is back to direct this sequel coming straight from his smashing Fantasy / Drama Pans Labyrinth.
11.Jurassic Park IV : We last took an adventure with dinosaurs around 2001 when Jurassic Park 3 came out. Back again to direct is Joe Johnston which last directed the disappointing Hildago. No cast information is available yet, however Stan Winston has said the film keeps getting delayed because of heavy changes being made to the script to satisfy Steven Spielberg.
12.Scary Movie 5 : Although it was rumored that the Wayans brothers would be returning for this one, it looks as if its not happening. Anna Faris and Brenda Meeks are rumored to be back as well as Leslie Nielsen. Hopefully this film will go back towards the earlier installments..as the first two were hilarious.
13. The Punisher 2 : This was a HUGE surprise to me. The first remake of the Punisher was horrible. I mean come on when Dolph Lundgren has a version of a film better then yours you know you suck. Punisher 2 will follow former FBI agent Frank Castle on another vigilante mission to stop evil in New York.

In Ridiculous Movie News:
The Wayans Brothers plan on opening a theme park:
An Oakland City Council committee planned Tuesday to consider an exclusive four-month negotiating agreement with a team led by Keenen Ivory Wayans to develop 28.3 hectares on a former U.S. Army base.
The project would include a movie studio, business park, retail village and luxury hotel. Developers said it would create more than 1,500 jobs in one of the city's poorest neighbourhoods.
Do these guys think they are that popular!
